23 July 2011: The Fertility Control Clinic in East Melbourne has been under attack by religious extremists for well over a decade.
Security Guard Steve Rogers was murdered at this clinic ten years ago, since then there have been attempts to fire bomb it, and groups such as “Right to Life” and the “Helpers of Gods Precious Infants” have been obstructing, harassing and filming women trying to access the clinic.
On Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the monthly clinic defence action, now in it’s sixth year, organised by the Campaign for Women’s Reproductive Rights and Radical Women.
The clinic defense gathering:

I had the pleasure of reporting on events in Albury to the gathering, and later over coffee I compared notes with one of the organiser’s, Debbie Brennan.
I’ll be discussing the event, and what I think we can learn from the ongoing campaign to defend the clinic in East Melbourne at Tuesday’s Albury Choice organising meeting.
